Fighting Diabetes

We are partnering with Holistic Lifestyle Changes. The goal of this partnership program is to help those with prediabetes avoid the pitfalls of it progressing into full-blown type 2 diabetes. This partnership will be an important resource for providing diabetes awareness, support, education, and prevention. We recognize that a successful result is creating the synergy that will help those with prediabetes change their behavior patterns and choose a healthier lifestyle. This can only be done through a personal commitment to adjust their diet, increase exercise and eliminate harmful unhealthy habits. These measures can also help those with type 2 diabetes improve their quality of life by taking fewer medications and even reverse the disease.

Unfortunately, many are simultaneously enhancing their type 2 diabetes by developing a destructive and sustained pro-diabetes lifestyle. Over time, these self-destructive behaviors become habitual. Sadly, those with type 2 diabetes struggle to find the motivation to break its grip but simply don't have the incentive to make the transition. They may no longer feel they have control. We know that everyone is different and that there is no set way to deal with a lack of motivation. In most cases, the problem is multidimensional. Those dealing with diabetes often suffer from a variety of psychological and physical problems.  One in every four diabetic patients suffers from recurring problems with depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. The coping mechanisms they've developed over time essentially becomes overwhelmed, as they continue to experience negative emotions that lead to destructive behaviors, thereby creating a vicious cycle of destructive behaviors that can eventually affect the eyes, kidneys, heart, brain, feet, and nerves.  There's a reason why a particular behavior is developed even a destructive one. To change their destructive behaviors, your donation will make it possible to set-up group sessions that can help them find the positive intention behind their behavior.

Holistic Lifestyle Changes Type 2 Diabetes Program-  Is an integrated long-term lifestyle modification program using science-based strategies that focus on weight reduction, weight maintenance while promoting healthy eating and daily physical activity. This program is designed to take on the ever-growing epidemic of type 2 diabetes. If managed correctly, type 2 diabetes can be reversed. Type 2 diabetes usually occurs in people who are over 40, overweight and have a family history of diabetes.

Diabetes causes inconceivable suffering. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that about 10 percent of the American population has diabetes, 30.3 million Americans have the disease and that millions of more individuals are projected to develop it, one in three will be diabetic by the year 2050.   More than 86 million Americans have prediabetes, nearly a third of the adult population is at risk of developing diabetes. People who have type 2 diabetes are at a high risk of developing heart-related problems.  Excess body fat underlies 64% of cases of diabetes in men and 77% of cases in women. There is a strong correlation between type 2 diabetes and excess body weight.  A person who is overweight and inactive is much more likely to develop type 2 diabetes because certain lifestyle choices greatly influence how well their body uses insulin. That's because excess body fat makes it harder for their body to use insulin the correct way. The body’s ability to balance blood sugar with insulin decreases as weight increases beyond a healthy level, making the cells more resistant to insulin.  While not everyone with type 2 diabetes is overweight, obesity and lack of physical activity are two of the most common causes of this form of diabetes. It is also responsible for about 90% to 95% of diabetes cases according to the CDC.
